Former Fayette Chief Dies

Ronald Alan McLallen, age 68, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at home. He was born in Ithaca, NY on September 6, 1941 a son of the late Raymond M. and Pauline (Gordon) McLallen.
Ron was a graduate of Ithaca High School in New York, class of 1959 and of Morrisville College, Morrisville, NY earning his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also served honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He had been employed for 30 years at IBM as a Regional Manager. He had also worked at Mid-State Machine in Waterville and Points North Outfitters in Winthrop. Ron also served 25 years as a volunteer on the Fayette Fire Department, serving as Chief for several years and was instrumental in the building of the new Fayette Fire House.
Ron was pre-deceased by his parents; his wife, Pamela A. (Perrin) McLallen and a granddaughter, Emily McLallen.
He is survived by two sons: Frank E. McLallen and his wife Teresa of Sykesville, MD and Andrew McLallen and his wife Lee of Voluntown, CT; a brother, Dennis McLallen and his wife Gloria of Friendsville, PA and three grandchildren: Stefanie, Lindsey and Nathan McLallen.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 23rd from 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 24th at 11 AM at the Fayette Baptist Church, 39 Baldwin Hill Road; Fayette. Burial will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's name may be made to: Fayette Fire Department, P.O. Box 238; Fayette, ME 04349.
